MMM Horseman is Very Pleased to Welcome An Outstanding Rider to its Team

With the MMM client roster nearly doubling in size and the tremendous success of the MMM horses in the past few years, Michael felt it was time to bring some additional talent to the staff. In 2008, he was joined by Michael Kearins.

Michael Kearins

Michael comes to us from Collooney, Sligo, Ireland. Riding as a Junior and in the European Young Riders competitions, Michael had already won over 200 major classes around Europe when he retired from riding ponies. At 16, he left his home in Ireland, to follow his passion in Italy, for an internship with Pablo Coppi, balancing his studies while pursuing his career. In 2001, Michael won an Individual Bronze Medal at the European Young Riders Championships. It was the first time in 30 years for an Irish rider to win a medal. The following year, he won a major grand prix on the Sunshine Tour in Via de la Frontera, Spain, riding the late Paul Dauragh’s Selle Francais stallion, Polycor.

By 2003, at the age of 20, he rode for Ireland in three Nations’ Cup Competitions, including the team that placed second in the Nation’s Cup Competition in Zagreb, Croatia. Michael has been in the United States for two years, making his mark here on the show circuit. Riding for Margie Engle and Hidden Creek Farm, then Andre Dignelli at Heritage Farm, as well as on his own horses, he has had impressive wins, most recently winning the 7 and 8 year old championship at the Hampton Classic, with his mare, Nos Na Ngaoite ("Like the Wind" in Gaelic). We are very excited to have him working with us.

Look for his show results on the Showing page throughout 2008 and watch out for him in the ring!
